Many Glacier Lodge, MT - 8/31,9/1 & 2

Yep, this is the lodge where we stayed 3 nights. The vistas here are breath taking. We took several hikes from this area. We visited 2-medicine, where we took a boat ride and hiked. Pictures in another post. Behind this lodge is where Fred & I started our 11 mile hike to Grinnell Glacier. Our rooms faced the side where this picture was taken. One morning I

This sign is at every entrance. It didn't take us long to become believers. Just as we were going to pull into the lodge, there was a mom grizzle & 2 cubs on the mountain side. Too far away for pictures ... then again ... that was a good thing. To date we've seen 7 bear ... one black bear right by the road ... I mean just a couple feet from Fred's car window.

This is a reservoir we saw as we drove into Many Glacier Lodge. We again were on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation. This reservoir went for miles and was down by 40-50 feet. What you can't tell from this pictures is how far away we were from the water. It was sicking, knowing how bad the drought has been. We later learned that the Indians use this reservoir for irrigation and that at this time every year the water is always this low. It made me feed a wee bit better.
