Yellowstone Entrance from Gardiner, MT

You might call this the gate to Yellowstone. It is the north entrance from Gardiner, MT. Carolyn told us that Teddy Roosevelt established this saying. I'm going to double check with her later to be sure I'm correct on that.

Rooseveldt did dedicate this arch (the original gateway to Yellowstone) in something like 1916 (the Park was established in 1872).

It is said that he laid the cornerstone of the arch.

It is correct that Roosevelt dedicated the cornerstone of the arch, though he did it in 1903. He is not responsible, however, for the saying on the arch. "For the benefit and enjoyment of the people" comes from the 1872 Dedication Act that created Yellowstone National Park while Grant was President. (As for 1916, you might be thinking of the year that the National Park Service was created, when Woodrow Wilson was President).
