1770 - Church by the Arch

When the National Park System cleared the area for the park ... they left one structure. It happened to be a Catholic Church originally a log building. They rebuilt it in 1831 and the current structure survived the 1849 fire. (at which point the city decided to make buildings brick) The outside is sandstone and rather nondescript. However, the inside was lovely. It was built in the basilica architectural style. It has big arched window that are clear glass ... I didn't see one piece of stained glass.
