Horses at the "Last Stand"

Custer's soldiers were trained to shoot their horses and use them for protection when they were in an indefensible position.

I find this area to be a very sorry connentation on mankind ...

I always feel a little weird when I find myself feeling more empathy for the animals than the men. I don't know what that is. Hmmmm. Probably because animals don't make the choices to be on battlefields. Yes, Beth - nothing has changed in millenia. We're a complicated species.

Hey Mom - Mike here,

This is great! You should have been blogging a long time ago! I'm really impressed with this - and btw, Dad has it saved as a home page. Hope all is well. The dogs don't even know you're gone (feels good right?lol).

Much love,

Mike
