Great Falls, MT to Waterton, Canada

I'm not sure any of you have followed the reports on the fires out here as much as Carolyn & me. This year there are 3 major fires in the areas where we'll be visiting, so far we've only smelled and seen smoke one day and even at that we drove out-of-it. Thought you might be interested to see what the 2006 fires left ... we drove many miles through stuff like this ...

OK, we're driving down the road and what do we see ... cattle ... yes they are free range cattle. All kidding aside, while driving through the Blackfeet Reservation the cattle and horses run free ... one had better be alert. If you think a deer can hurt a car ...

You just wouldn't believe Montana ... I have posted these pictures to give you an idea of what it looks like when driving down the road. Really, it is prairie on one side and mountains on the other ... it is like nothing I've experienced before. I literally got out of the car and took pictures of each side just to give you a flavor.

We are on our way to Waterton, Canada via Browning, MT. Carolyn had passed this way before and knew of this little Indian Museum, so we stopped. It was really amazing, the exhibits were Indian clothes, jewelry, pipes, blankets, head dresses and everyday items. They dated from the mid-19th & 20th centuries. Most of the exhibits were due to the "Great Northern Railway" donating them. It is by far the best Indian Museum I've ever seen ... really great stuff & lots of reading!

Amanda would love to watch the horses and free range cattle moving about. She is trying to make up her mind between nursing and veterinary technician and what schools to apply for. She has until November to submit 2 letters of interest to her school choices. I can't wait to show her and the rest of the gang the new pictures.
