Waterton Boat Ride - Canada 8/30

Oops, found a few more pictures of scenery I wanted to share.

Yes, this is it ... the boat we took from Canada to the U.S. I'm sure Carolyn knows the name of the boat but she's sleeping ... so I'll have to update it 'later' today. This ride was spectacular! The mountains rise right of-the-water ... no hills. The boat is all wood, was built in the 1920's and resides in a boat house here on the lake where they maintain it during the winter. This is a glacier lake, it is about 500 feet deep. Scientist brought fish up from that depth. They did not live due to the pressure change. But the most interesting thing is that they did not have eyes ...

This is where we crossed into the U.S. The boarder is located on the 49th parallel and during the 'create work' program (not sure if post WWII or depression) a 30' swath of land was cleared all the way across the two nations. Guess I didn't realize the 49th parallel was the boarder ... if our guide was right.
