Lake Lodge ~ Yellowstone, MT ~ 9/11

After leaving Inspiration Point, we checked in at Lake Lodge, Lake Village, Yellowstone National Park. A big herd of Bison were all over the lodge area, you just can't imagine. People were advised to not walk anywhere outside. I want to tell you these puppies were everywhere. It was kind of crazy.

I need to digress for a moment. Carolyn had a payment for a bill that she wanted to put into a "US Postal Service Mailbox". She was not satisfied to leave it at a 'front desk'. She had meant to put it in the "US Postal Service Mailbox" when in Mammoth Hot Springs. However, when she stepped outside to do so, there was a ranger stopping her from proceeding. It appeared that two bull Elk were fighting over the females. There were so many rangers out there it was unbelievable. They were yelling at people to get out-of-the way. They were using loud speakers on cars telling them to “BACK UP NOW” … she never got to the PO. The next morning was going to have to suffice; however, we forgot.

So, now we’re in Lake Village. Due to the Bison, we weren't walking anywhere. So, we proceed to drive to the Post Office, not more than a couple of blocks away. It seemed that the Bison had decided to leave the area. We're sitting in the PO parking lot, sure enough here comes a young bull, right towards the PO. Carolyn starts to get out-of-the car and I shout, “Stop.” Sure enough, as you can see by the picture, that young thing stopped right by our mailbox. We waited 15 minutes and finally we got it mailed. We just couldn’t believe our luck.
